Note: This isn’t what I wanted to post today. I’m merely sweeping the cobwebs out of this blog with it, seeing as its my fault that it got semi-abandoned. My post this weekend MIGHT be on the controversial topic of abortion; a topic that comes very close to home for me, for reasons that I will discuss. Meanwhile, today’s post is a reference to a fall-out of our modern civilization that I consider to be responsible for many ills – the exclusion of theological discourse from our educational systems. I think that Oxford had the right idea back in the day.
In case you couldn’t view the video, here’s a transcript of it:
A school teacher starts his class telling the little boys:
‘I’ll prove to you, if God exists then He’s evil. Did God create everything that exists? If God created everything, then He created the evil. Which means God is evil.’
At this, one of the little boys interjects
‘Excuse me professor!’ He gets to his feet, and engages the professor. ‘Does cold exist?’
‘What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?’
‘In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold, is in reality the absence of heat.’
‘Professor, does darkness exist?’
‘Of course it does’
‘You are wrong sir. Darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality, the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness.’
‘Evil does not exist. It is just like cold and darkness. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart.’
The little boy then takes his seat to the sound of a deafening silence.
